NEW FINDINGS ON SILVER FIR

The article contains the evaluation of the silver fir sample plot No. 67 at Pelhřimov, established in the forest region 16 - Českomoravská vrchovina (Czech-Moravian Highlands) at a locality elevation of 680 m a.s.l. at the age of 28. It represents a set of progenies from 56 provenances from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Austria, Germany, France, and Italy. The conclusions on genetically conditioned quality of the examined provenances for the locality and similar ecological conditions are based on analysis of height and diameter increments and volume production. The work also deals with ideas of the silver fir reproduction material in forestry practice, namely for the material zoning.

POPULATION DYNAMICS OF Cameraria ohridella

This study explains some questions connected to dynamic of population of species Cameraria ohridella Deschka et Dimic`. The evolution cycle of species during the year starts by swarming of imagos hibernated generation on the end of April. It is possible to find swarming of imagos also on the end of June and in a half of August in the Czech Republic conditions. Evolution of one generation lasts from ovum to coming out of chrysalis about 50 days. Mortality of particularly evolution phases of species increase with enlarging injury. In spite of it, the number of individuals of second generation is 65 multiple of numbers females of hibernate generation. A part of chrysalis comes inside the diapause and swarm in the spring of next year. During the years 1997-2000 fluctuation of species numbers have been watched in locality of Modřice, but expressive decrease or increase have not been noticed. At the present population density of species is in new localities considerably high, witch is among other consequence of minimal parasitism. Meanwhile the problem of Cameraria ohridella is only in aesthetic character, because inquiry till now have not confirm negative influence Cameraria ohridella feeding to the health condition of attacked horse chestnuts. In case, there is synergism activities of this pest together with another stress factors (drought, waste production, etc.), it can happen that in certaines cases attacked trees die. In well-founded cases is possible to recommend defensive measures, which successfully practice verified before.
